OMDC Launches New Online Application Portal

TORONTO, February 22, 2010 – Ontario Media Development Corporation (www.omdc.on.ca)
is digitally transforming the way it does business with the launch today of a new paperless, secure online application portal (OAP).

The OAP will make it easier for OMDC’s stakeholders to apply for tax credits and other programs, by allowing them to track the status of their applications online (including uploading and storing corporate documents), as well as enabling them to communicate directly with OMDC staff via the portal.

The new service will be available to both OMDC stakeholders and to the juries who adjudicate many of OMDC’s funding programs. The online application portal will be phased in as follows:

• All OMDC clients may register now by filling in their corporate profiles.
• Applications may be made online immediately for the following tax credits: Ontario Sound Recording Tax Credit (OSRTC), Ontario Book Publishing Tax Credit (OBPTC) and Ontario Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit (OIDMTC).
• On March 22, 2010, applications will also be accepted online for the following tax credits: Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit (OFTTC), Ontario Production Services Tax Credit (OPSTC) and Ontario Computer Animation and Special Effects tax credit (OCASE)
• Applicants to OMDC’s Industry Development Programs will be able to apply online as the respective programs roll out during the 2010-11 fiscal year.

Ontario Media Development Corporation is an agency of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture responsible for stimulating jobs and investment in six cultural media sectors: the book and magazine publishing, film & television, music and interactive digital media industries. OMDC achieves its mandate through a variety of programs, funds, services and tax credits, and by providing support for festivals, markets and events. The entire entertainment and creative cluster produces $15 billion in revenue and over 200,000 jobs, contributing $12.7 billion to the province’s GDP.
